FFTL Launches Landmark 2025–28 Women’s Football Strategic Plan to Empower and Elevate the Football Game in Timor-Leste

Dili, Timor-Leste – 12 July 2025

The Football Federation of Timor-Leste (FFTL) has officially launched the FFTL Women’s Football Strategic Plan 2025-28 at Hotel Timor in Dili, marking a major step forward in developing women’s football across the nation.

The strategic plan focuses on four key pillars:

Development and Growth – Expanding opportunities for girls and women in football.

Educate and Empower – Enhancing knowledge and skills for players, coaches, and referees.

National Team Development – Strengthening the women’s national teams.

Women’s League Development – Building a sustainable domestic league structure.

Mr. Domingos Caeiro, speaking on behalf of the FFTL President, emphasized the importance of women’s football in empowering girls and women in Timor-Leste. He highlighted the crucial role of women’s clubs and municipal football associations in driving progress.

This year, FFTL is also introducing U15 and U17 Girls’ Competitions at the municipal level, creating pathways for young talent. Over the next three years, the federation aims to increase female participation as players, coaches, referees, and leaders in football administration.

A panel discussion featuring coaches and players from the Women’s National Senior Team and U20 Team addressed the challenges they face in training and competition. The participants expressed optimism that the new strategy will bring better support and growth for women’s football in Timor-Leste.

This landmark initiative reinforces FFTL’s commitment to gender equality and football development, paving the way for a brighter future for women in the sport.
